This nourishing Tempeh Barley Buddha Bowl is full of colourful veggies, meaty tempeh, hearty barley and topped with a runny orange & tahini dressing.
Everything just seems to taste better in a bowl if you ask me! I love buddha bowls because they satisfy my indecisive mind from having to pick just one flavour. This way I can have a bit of everything.
A great tip is prep all these ingredients ahead of time for easy meals throughout the week. This makes it easier to whip up a quick meal for dinner, or pack a lunch in the morning. Honestly, I could have one of these bowls for breakfast, lunch and dinner. But what exactly is a Buddha bowl anyway? Each bowl is made up of 5 key components: Grains, protein, veggies, dressing and seeds/nuts/sprouts.
This is definitely a bowl of plant-based goodness! It takes just minutes to put together and the orange-tahini dressing is apparently so good you’ll want to put it on everything.

WORKING THE MAGIC:
FOR TERIYAKI TEMPEH
Set up a stemer basket over a pot of boiling water and place the tempeh in the basket. Cover it and let it steam for 10-15 minutes.
Cut tempeh into triangles or sqaures.
Mix well all the ingredients of teriyaki sauce(except sesame seeds) in a bowl and add tempeh and let it marinade for few minutes.
Heat oil in a pan, take tempeh out of the sauce and heat tempeh for about 30 seconds on each sides to caramalize the sauce on it.
Turn off the heat and top with sesame seeds.
FOR ORANGE TAHINI DRESSING
Add all ingredients to a small blender and blend until completely smooth.
FOR ASSEMBELING
Once everything is ready, start assembling the bowls. Divide the ingredients between 2 bowls and top with orange tahini dressing and sesame seeds. Enjoy this nourishing healthy bowl with your loved one.
