Vegan Fiery Hot Chocolate | Hot Chocolate with chili

Winter has officially arrived here in Minnesota and also it's weather to enjoy a hot cup of homemade hot chocolate. A creamy dreamy totally vegan hot chocolate with a kick of ancho chili and lots of vegan marshmallows is essential to keep you warm this winter. The best part: it whips up in about five minutes!!

total time - 10 minute

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups non-dairy milk of your choice (I used oatly's full-fat oat milk)

  • 1/4 cup vegan dark chocolate, roughly chopped

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1/8 tsp ancho chili powder

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder

  • 1 pinch nutmeg

  • 1 pinch salt

  • Vegan marshmallows, optional

  • Cocoa powder for dusting


WORKING THE MAGIC:

  • Bring milk to a simmer in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat.

  • Mix in maple syrup, ancho chili powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

  • Whisk frequently, until mixture is smooth and creamy and chocolate is completely melted.

  • Divide hot chocolate among 2 mugs.

  • Top with vegan marshmallows and dust cocoa powder before serving.
