Yuca Fries in Air-fryer | Air-fried Cassava Fries

A delicious Caribbean side dish. These Air-fried, crispy & crunchy yuca aka cassava fries are crispy on the outside with a soft and chewy texture inside. With the spicy seasoning, it is a great snack any time of the day.

prep time - 10 minutes

cook time - 30 minutes

total time - 40 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 medium sized yuca

  • 3 cups water for boiling

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1/2 tsp paprika

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp sea salt



WORKING THE MAGIC:

  • Peel and cut the yuca into even size sticks (1 inch thick & 3 inch long), then place the sticks in the bowl of water. Set aside.

  • Bring 3 cups of water to boil and cook the yuca sticks for 6-7 minutes.

  • Drain & transfer the cooked yuca sticks into a dry bowl and let it cool.

  • When cooled, add paprika, salt, pepper, onion powder and oil. Toss to coat properly.

  • Preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes and fry the yuca for 15-17 minutes on 390°. Spread the yuca in a single layer and do not overcrowd the fryer.

  • If using oven, preheat the oven at 350F and bake the fries for 15 minutes.

  • Check them as necessary for desired crispiness. Serve with ketchup or aioli. Enjoy.
