Betel Bombs | Digestive Truffles

Betal bombs are made of fresh betel leaves, nuts, and seeds combined with Rose petal jam and soft dates crafted into bite-sized truffles. It’s a little sweet treat to enjoy after meals. Rose petal jam or Gulkand is a powerful antioxidant-rich ingredient that helps correct gut health, regulates healthy digestion, and helps with reducing acidity and cooling the body. According to Ayurveda, chewing betel leaves/paan after meals eases digestion as it increases the secretion of digestive juices, reduces bloating of the stomach, relieves constipation, and destroys intestinal parasites.

T I M E

total time - 15 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

  • 7-8 fresh betel leaves (You can find them in Indian stores, Most Indian stores carry them.)

  • 4 tbsp rose petal jam/gulkand (You can buy from Amazon or Indian store)

  • 2 soft dates, finely chopped

  • 1/2 cup fennel seeds

  • 1/2 cup dried shredded coconut

  • 4 tbsp almonds and cashew nuts, roughly chopped

  • 2 tbsp poppy seed

  • 1 tbsp hemp seed

  • 1 tsp cardamom powder

  • 4 tbsp tutti-fruity (optional)

FOR COATING THE TRUFFLES:

  • 1 tbsp dried shredded coconut

  • 1 tbsp hemp seed

  • 1 tbsp poppy seed

WORKING THE MAGIC:

  • Wash the betel leaves and pat them dry.

  • Remove the stalk and roughly chop the leaves.

  • Add all the ingredients to a food processor and pulse 3-4 times until you get a coarse mixture.

  • Make bite-size truffles and coat them with a mixture of dried desiccated coconut, hemp seed, and poppy seed.

  • Store in refrigerator in an airtight container. These stores well up to 2 months. Enjoy them after a meal for better digestion.
